Animal Collective are about to drop their newest album, Centipede Hz, in just a few weeks. A big budget video to accompany their new found Big Band status was inevitable. In the clip for “Today’s Supernatural,” Avey Tare dons his best Bjork-meets-Juggalo attire for a psychedelic trip through the dessert, yipping and yapping to his heart’s content. There’s also some kind of Chinese dragon meets go-kart contraption zipping around. It looks like a promotional video for next year’s Burning Man, basically. Which isn’t to take anything away from the song — it’s layered and manic and melodic, like the best Animal Collective songs, and feels like a good sign of what’s to come on Centipede Hz. (I haven’t heard any leaks, have you?) It’s out on September 4.
