Prince fans (i.e. everyone) rejoice, as the iconic singer’s Paisley Park estate in Minnesota will soon be open to the public for tours—very soon, in fact; the performer’s estate opens Oct. 6 and tickets go on sale this Friday, here. That is how Prince wanted it, and so it shall be.
Prince was notoriously elusive and reclusive—that air of mystery only made him more fantastical—so this is a rare glimpse into how the late musician lived and worked. “Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time as we open the doors to this incredible place,” Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, said in a statement.
Not only will visitors have a chance to see Prince’s personal living quarters, recording studios and rehearsal spaces, they’ll also get to see a ton of his personal stuff, including instruments, cars, music, awards and, of course, clothes. Damn, he had some great clothes. TBH both Prince and Bowie would be ripe for a MET Costume Institute show within the next couple of years, right? Probably.
Anyway, this is some excellent news in a year full of mediocre-to-shitty news, so let’s revel in it.
