Doom Dab Records has locked in a stacked roster of New York’s most promising artists for their forthcoming compilation, Bad Mood—a tongue-in-cheek title that plays off the label’s mantra of “positivity above all.” With 16 total tracks—out Oct. 7—the free download will feature everyone from Ahsh Eff to Jay Boogie, Dick Van Dick to JX Cannon, looping in a range of producers and vocalists that altogether reflect the undercurrent of NYC talent.
“Our aim is not to represent any specific genre, but rather a collective creative mindset, like pieces to a puzzle,” Doom Dab says, speaking to their diverse music selection, and one that always reflects pop lyricism and professional, crisp production. “We hope these songs serve as a source of inspiration and love in the midst of an otherwise terrifying and daunting worldwide socio-political climate.”
Bad Mood notably sees the reunion of Thurmon Green and Flex Lang, who worked together on the artist’s track, “Lay It Down,” last year. For their newest cut, “Ready For Action,” the Brooklyn producer—best-known for producing Jay Boogie’s entire debut full-length, Allure—lends an easy, feel good instrumental to warm vocals from Green and guest vocalist Khallee. “I’ve been working on my body, and I’m ready for some action,” Green sings in Doom Dab’s most promising crossover single to date.
