Not sure if there’s something weird going on in the fabric of the universe or what have you, but am I crazy, or this an actually interesting-sounding, compelling guitar-and piano-based rock and roll band we have on our hands here? The Toronto four piece The Darcys make like a less dour (but only just) update on the likes of Elbow and Doves here on the meticulously layered empyrean elegy of “Horses Fell,” from their third full length Warring, out later this month on Arts & Crafts.
“‘Horses Fell’ is part love song, part break up song,” the band’s Jason Couse told us. “It’s about those moments of clarity in a relationship when everything else seems to strip away. When you know you’re going to hurt someone to find your own happiness.”
