Things starts out as an idyllic seeming picnic in Cuushe’s video “I Love You”, but apparently all she packed for lunch was mushrooms, because it takes a turn for the decidedly psychedelic from there on out. The song, from her recent Butterfly Case, melds the Berlin/Tokyo artist’s ear for field recordings with phantasmal guitar aura and a detached affect.
“‘I Love You’ is a ballad that is similar to ‘Do You Know the Way to Sleep’ (from my previous EP release), but ‘ Love You’ is much more upbeat and fun, it’s a song that you can dance to,” Cuushe explained. “I really like this song’s air, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a music video that best represents the playful nature of the song. I asked my friends from the Texan outfit Twings and Yarn to create a video because they make really great videos and I like Lauren’s (from T&Y) artwork. Lauren asked me what I would like the video to be like, so I told to her I wanted it to include Cats and have a Summer-vibe. This is what they came up with, and I really love it! It’s super-cute and psychedelic!”
