Providing the perfect seasonal soundtrack, LA duo October’s Child delivers some seriously beautiful, cinematic tracks on their hearty debut EP Harvest. The rising project is one-half singer/songwriter Britt Warner, who’s recent collaborators include Lana Del Rey producer Dan Heath and TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, and Jordan Waré, who co-produced Justin Bieber’s bouncy single, “Where Are Ü Now.” Warner and Waré both share a birth month, October, and a “propensity for autumn melancholy,” which inspired the band name and sonic direction.
Like a refreshing marriage of Portishead and Jeff Buckley, Harvest is a warm and textural five-track package, slated for release on Oct. 21, the birthdate of Warner’s father, who recently passed away in the arms of Warner and her brothers on Sept. 24 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Needless to say, this is a special release, which translates through earnest lyrics and quietly soulful instrumentals.
Listen to the exclusive BULLETT premiere, below, and see the duo play The Virgil in Los Angeles on Oct. 25.
