A couple of months ago we premiered the video for “Honest Affection”, from the four-piece family band Kye Kye, and the imagery and darkly romantic song have stuck with us since then. With their full length Fantasize out next week, we’ve got a chance to stream the album in full here today.
“Honest Affection” is still the stand out, with the lilting, high register beauty of Olga Yagolnikov’s vocals floating over pulsing synth-bass and drum rolls, but there’s magic throughout. “People” evokes a mid-tempo dance embrace with noir-guitar touches, while the roiling synth sparkle of “Glass” gives way to a wide-open passage of bucolic horn gusts. “Softly” builds from a delicate roll in the sheets to a resounding stadium-filler as the group transform from Rhye to M83 over the course of the number.
Kye Kye are on tour now, appearing in Austin tonight, and Los Angeles on the 18th. Pre-order the album here.
