If you pick out a certain sense of emotional maturity in the music of 18 year old songwriter and performer Soren Bryce, that’s probably because the Los Angeles-based Texan has been writing songs since the age of 7. Of late those songs have taken the form of sharp-edged, brooding, indie folk and pop like “Stick It.”
Bryce’s forthcoming self-titled debut EP, out on August 28, was produced by David Kahne (Lana Del Rey, Ingrid Michaelson), and there’s some of the former’s attitude and style at play here.
“Stick it is my way of showing my empowerment,” Bryce says of the song. “It has attitude and confidence, which shows people a different side of me and my outlook on the world.”
