Premiere: Puro Instinct’s Dreamy ‘What You See’

Having begun their musical paths at such a young age, it’s safe to say that Piper and Skylar Kaplan, aka Puro Instinct, have packed a lot of experience into their time as a band. Their latest record, Autodrama, included a stint in Australia, where they began recording the album. It presented a contrast to their native Hollywood.i

“The infrastructure of Hollywood that people have known for years is this inflated egotistical, hedonistic wasteland,” Piper says. “There’s an awareness of our responsibility to create more meaningful works of art that don’t satisfy the immediate thirst of Hollywood popcorn. Lyrically, one of my goals is to get into that psychology, to push myself to talk about all the things that hurt me about living in Hollywood. I’ve never allowed myself to play along
because of my values, for better or for worse. What we’re going for is pop music to not be about vanity and wealth, but still pop music nonetheless.”

That comes through on “What You See,” the latest release from Autodrama.

“‘What You See’ is about uninhibited love for yourself, the other beings on this planet, and the world we all share,” she tells us. “It’s about using love as a vehicle to transform your mind and reality, and Fearlessly Allowing It To Happen. F.A.I.T.H.”

Puro Instinct kicks off their tour June 30 in Washington DC and hit New York on July 2. Find all the dates, here.
