A pillar of Chicago’s queer club scene, Bon Bon is a towering, soft-spoken vixen with a lavish, loud look that’s been largely overlooked, until now. Whether she’s wearing bedazzled fake nails as lashes or sporting her signature micro-purse, the nightlife star is always a neon-lit centerpiece. Her debut music project is an extension of this larger-than-life persona, created in collaboration with Witch Hazel producer Ariel Zetina.

“[Ariel and I] bonded when we found out our parents are from neighboring countries,” Bon Bon said. “Her’s are from Belize and mine are from Honduras. We started hanging out and recording random stuff for shows or for fun. Our plan is to release music only in Spanish for a while.”

The self-proclaimed “Latin PopStartist,” unveils today her breakout single, “BOOTS THE HOUS3 DOWN”—a wonky musical introduction that’s true to Zetina’s sonic ethos and sees the moonlit star repeating the undeniable question, “Wanna Bon Bon?” Listen, below, for your wasted weekend anthem:
