“The music is thought of as a tribute to the braincells,” says Katrine Ottosen, of the Danish trio CALLmeKat when asked about their new track “Rolling.” The song has a future-retro feel, with 60s-handclap pop brushing up against contemporary electronic touches. “I wanted the drums to have a sort of tribal, marching feeling giving lots of drive and energy. The initial thought behind the lyrics was to think of hard times as a moment where your brain cells have to go to war, gear up, put their armor on and help you fight the fights that life brings on sometimes. It’s about rising to the occasion and realizing that there are some things you fight yourself and you need to go through it and that you have the strength to get through hard times too, in a positive way.”
CALLmeKAT will be in New York City on March 10, before heading down to SXSW. Find more info and music here.
