“I was looking for love, but instead I found pain / guess you weren’t man enough for me,” sings TC Milan on ROMANCE’s smooth sophomore single, “Man Enough,” produced by Yung Diamond and mixed/mastered by Avan Lava’s Le Chev. The melancholic groove follows the rising Brooklyn outfit’s breakout track, “Paradise,” which we labeled a standout queer track of 2015.
The track first took shape as a voice memo on Milan’s my phone after things ended with an ex-boyfriend: “I couldn’t get this hook out of my head,” he said. “I’d sing it on my bike, on the train, in the shower. At first I believed I’d sabotaged the relationship, but eventually realized he just wasn’t up for love. He didn’t like the idea of forever and I don’t take love lightly. This song is about moving on.”
