All the world’s an infomercial, and all the music consumers are merely players. That’s the takeaway from the new video “Bathroom Laughter” from Pennsylvania noise punks Pissed Jeans, which I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess most of our readers won’t necessarily enjoy. That’s kind of the point too. This is difficult, abrasive music, (albeit superlatively critically-lauded), and the accompanying video is equally hard to watch. Wouldn’t it be funny to see an infomercial descend into chaos and carnage!? (S/O to Dan Aykroyd’s The French Chef). Actually, no, it would be horrifying and scarring; at least it is in this Joe Stakun-directed clip, including cameos from The Office‘s Mark Proksch and Liz Lee of My Life as Liz. Haha, everyone is going to die in front of the TV.
The track comes from the band’s fourth album Honeys, out today on Sub Pop.
