Philip Seymour Hoffman may have gone home empty-handed from the Tonys on Sunday—where he failed to take home the Best Actor in a Play award for his turn as the iconic Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman—but don’t feel too bad for him. He’s got Paul Thomas Anderson’s Scientology parable The Master coming in October, and Deadline reported last night that he has been offered a huge part, that of Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. The Oscar-winner is often cited as one of our greatest actors today, and he’d be joining a starry cast that also features Oscar nominees Woody Harrelson and Jennifer Lawrence alongside Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, and Lenny Kravitz. There’s no word yet on whether Hoffman will accept the role, but we have our fingers crossed. May the odds be ever in his favor.
