Pharrell Williams gets deep into the headspace of provocative artists in his new YouTube talk show, ARTST TLK. The show is part of Uncommon Content’s new original series on Reserve Channel, and it enjoys the freedom a show can only exercise when aired solely on YouTube. Other shows on Reserve Channel include Joy Bryant’s board sports “action talk show” and a fishing show with Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio (also surprisingly action-packed.)
The premier of ARTST TLK features investigative writers Andy Greenberg and Ben Mezrich. You might know Greenberg for his hacktivism coverage, ranging from “inventor of underground” Julian Assange to today’s ubiquitous hacktivist group Anonymous. And you’ve definitely heard of Mezrich, whose books The Accidental Billionaires and Bringing Down the House proved his penchant for uncovering stories ripe for film adaptations. Both writers discuss the double-edged sword of hacktivism and freedom of information, as well as their differing methods of uncovering stories (tip: Julian Assange communicates through encrypted instant messaging and a guy named Penguin X in Iceland.)
And if hacktivism and investigative journalism aren’t really your thing, watch the show for Pharrell’s irresistable charm, or at least for the naked woman he employs to refill his interviewees’ water.
