Tupac’s finally hitting the big screen—and this time, not by hologram. The long-awaited biopic, All Eyez On Me, finally released its first trailer, earlier this week. Out June 16, which would’ve been the icon’s 46th birthday (unless, of course, he’s still alive, in which case, it is), the film will examine the life of rap’s greatest act. Starring Demetrius Shipp Jr. as an uncannily similar Pac, the teaser shows a young Makaveli watching his mother and step-father at a Black Panther meeting, and continues with moments throughout the rapper’s life, including his various incarcerations, introduction to Death Row leader, Suge Knight, and ultimate death.
All I can say is, it’s about damn time. This film is way overdue, especially since Notorious came out 2009. I don’t mean to ignite the Biggie/Tupac argument, but I am surprised it’s taken so long. Or maybe the fact there’s been no biopic, actually means Tupac’s been alive, this whole time. Hey, a girl can dream. But it looks like All Eyez On Me is as good as I’m going get.
