When the designers at Opening Ceremony conceptualized this year’s brilliant pride capsule collection, an ode to New York’s finest gay bars of past and present, they could never have imagined the tragic events that transpired at Pulse in Orlando early Sunday morning.
The t-shirts and hoodies, which bare names like Julius, The Stonewall Inn and the now defunct Catty Shack were simply a fashion-forward way to show one’s support for the LGBTQ community. Now, showing support for the LGBTQ community, by donning an OC pride T or otherwise, is more important than ever.
But copping the collection does more than sartorially show one’s support; the company is donating all profits from the collection to the Pulse Victim’s Fund, which benefits those affected by the mass shooting at Pulse. Being on trend has never been more important.
