Word of Darren Aronofsky’s big biblical epic Noah has been floating around for a while now, but there hasn’t been much in the way of production details for the classic story of Noah (played by Russell Crowe) and the Ark, and the massive flood that washes away humanity’s sinners until now. Yesterday evening, however, Aronofsky snapped the above pic and Tweeted the following: “I dreamt about this since I was 13. And now it’s a reality. Genesis 6:14
#noah.” Apparently Genesis 6:14 of the New International Version of the Old Testament reads “So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.”
Um, so dude is legit building an ark? Does he not know that here in 2012, we have nerds who sit behind computers and just make that kind of thing out of zeros and ones? What’ll happen with it when the movie is over? Considering that this is something Aronofsky’s been dreaming about since he was 13, along with the fact that he knew the chapter and verse well enough to just drop it in a tweet, not to mention the fact that ocean salinity has been decreasing because of our melting polar ice caps, perhaps this is the moment where the film’s producers start worrying that they just’ve just bankrolled one man’s madcap biblical fantasy. Well played Aronofksy, well played.
