The concept of Mood Indigo, Michel Gondry’s new movie, is peak Gondry: It’s about a woman played by Audrey Tatou who develops an illness that can only be treated by surrounding her with flowers. If that weren’t enough, this first trailer reveals the same level of magical realism all his films are famous for, except with more spontaneous Frenchness. Still, it looks visually stunning and filled with quirk and whimsy and joie de vivre and all the things worth enjoying in a trip to the theater, given that Gondry’s oeuvre hasn’t produced many duds. (Yeah, I liked Be Kind Rewind, what about it?) The movie’s coming out on April 24 in France, which means an American release should be shortly after.
