The army of girls at Assembly were ’80s sportswear warriors, with the killer cycling shades and warpaint to prove it. As any athletic girl knows, high, slicked-back ponytails work best, and Aveda’s Jon Reyman clearly agrees, pulling hair back tight and giving it tons of thickness and shine for a retro-futuristic, aerodynamic look. The makeup by Gucci Westman for Revlon was a graphic, neon pink stripe across the cheek with a clean face and an intimidating pepto-bismol pink lip that Westman reassured me would look great on any skin tone. Jin Soon Choi’s Revlon nails featured alternating angles of gold accented by a pale nail base that emphasized the sharp athletic-inspired lines of the clothing. Assembly’s spring collection reinterpreted the classic eighties power suit into something sexy and ultra-modern, unleashing a team of man-eaters in the process.
