“No After Party” Is The Slogan Only Alexander Wang Could Make Cool

After last season’s McDonald’s-and-7-11-themed afterparty, the fashion crowd couldn’t help but wonder what Alexander Wang had up his sleeve for this year, especially after that mysterious, address-less invitation went out advising invitees to come to a random intersection in Harlem. The answer? A fashion show that functioned as its very own afterparty, complete with Peroni kegs and high-profile editors dancing to hip-hop. The requisite number of celebrities — from the Jenner sisters to A$AP Rocky — were also in attendance.



But “No After Party” is more than a good hashtag or an advisory to find somewhere else to drink, it’s also the theme of Wang’s latest “see now, buy now” capsule collection. The collection includes tees, shorts, and a badass pair of sheer tights emblazoned with the phrase, retailing for between $85 and $225. After all, these days you’ve gotta have something for the Instagram set to show off ASAP.

And unlike the Tommy x Gigi capsule collection, which sold out before models even hit the runway, you can actually still get your hands on this one on Wang’s website and in stores.

The collection itself, which was entirely black save for pops of silver and gray and a pair of dark wash jeans, had strong after-hours vibes, with plenty of leather, mesh, studs and rhinestones. Call it a party girl chic extension the coolly minimalist aesthetic Wang is famous for.

As for the whole lack of an afterparty thing, well, it’s kind of hard to believe that there wasn’t some ultra-exclusive afters for the VVIPs, but then again, if anyone could make something as inherently uncool as “No After Party” cool, it’s Alexander Wang.
