Last week, to the horror of everyone planning on attending Coachella this year, Beyoncé announced she will not be headlining on account of the fact that she’s pregnant with twins. The question remained: who could possibly replace Beyoncé? The answer is, of course, no one, but the festival announced late last night that Lady Gaga is going to give it the ‘ol college try.
Listen, Gaga is a fabulous, flashy, fun performer. Her Super Bowl halftime performance was top notch. She wears interesting outfits. She had that weird Tony Bennett phase that lasted just a little too long. But Beyoncé she is not.
Still, when we think of female pop stars that could reasonably attempt to fill a Beyoncé-sized void, the only viable options are Lady Gaga and Rihanna (the latter was a rumored replacement. There were also murmurings about Chance the Rapper, Daft Punk and even Bey’s hubby Jay Z).
Realistically, everyone will be so high on molly they won’t even notice the difference.
