It was a weekend of star-studded rites of passage; not only did Justin Bieber crash a high school prom, Nicki Minaj performed at some kid’s bar mitzvah. Yes, a New York teenager named Matt became a man in the coolest way possible.
For what we can only assume was an outrageous fee, the rapper performed her hit, “Super Bass,” posed with the Bar Mitzvah Boy and his prepubescent pals on his step and repeat and even offered some words of wisdom on Matt’s big day. “Stay in school, and don’t be a slouch or a bum,” she said. “And ladies, never let a man have to take care of you, do you understand me? Be your own woman, be your own person.” When the rapper asked Matt his age (Hey Nicki – Bar Mitzvah’s typically happen at 13), he cheekily replied “Old enough,” proving he really is a man now.

Minaj joins an illustrious group of celebs who have performed at bar and bat mitzvahs, which includes Aerosmith, 50 Cent, Tom Petty, Don Henley, Kenny G (who all performed at the SAME bat mitzvah, which cost a reported $10 million), Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé (that one cost $7.5 million), Flo Rida and Drake.
