At last, women will be (less) financially burdened for having ovaries! Yesterday, Governor Cuomo signed the legislation to remove both local and state sales tax from feminine hygiene products (I hate the phrase “feminine hygiene,” but let’s take one victory at a time, I guess).
It’s about damn time, considering that many other “essential” items are already tax-free, including text books and medicine. Lol to the idea of tampons and pads not being essential. Imagine what these male lawmakers would think if we were just free bleeding all over the city.
Anyway, the law is expected to save New York women about $10 million annually. How. Bonkers. Is. That.
Way to go, New York! Now only about 40 states left to go.
