“Versace, Versace; I just hit a jackpot, so get the fuck off my slot machine.” It has been announced that SJM Holdings, the largest casino operator in China, will partner with fashion’s iconic house of excess, Versace, on a new hotel and casino in the Cotai area of Macau. Macau is the only area of China where gambling is legal, and the ‘strip’ in Cotai has become a Vegas of sorts for wealthy gamblers on Chinese soil. This new Palazzo Versace will be the third luxury hotel for Gianni Versace SpA, with an existing location on the Gold Coast in Australia and another being built in Dubai.
Meanwhile, resident Gold Coast condominium owners are currently involved in a dust-up with the Palazzo amidst overpaying for water usage, a claim which is clearly without merit due to the fact that this is designer water we’re talking about here. It must be stressful to manage swimming in pools of Versace water in the Versace condominium you own in a Versace hotel, but I guess these are just Versace problems.
