Supreme collaborations have a reputation for generating more than their fair share of hype, and this one with COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT is likely to be one of the most talked about of the year (aside from maybe those inexplicably branded MetroCards). Not only does the collection feature shirts, hoodies, a parka, and even a three-piece cotton gabardine suit in a funky black-and-white eyeball motif, but it drops just weeks before the Met’s hotly anticipated Comme des Garçons exhibition opens. So yeah, good luck getting your hands on it.
It is, of course, not the first time the two cult brands have teamed up. They’ve done everything from t-shirts emblazoned with the face of skateboarding legend Harold Hunter to ’90s-inspired plaid flannels. There was even that polka dotted windbreaker modeled by Chloe Sevigny in 2013 that came complete with a matching bucket hat. Rumors began floating on Reddit a few weeks ago that another Supreme x Comme des Garçons collab was in the works, and, well, here we are.
This collection will be available online and at Supreme stores in New York, London, and Paris as well as the Dover Street Market in London on April 13. There’s also a co-branded Nike Air Force 1 Low, which won’t become available until May. The inclusion of a Nike sneaker has come as a surprise to many, given that previous collaborations between the brands have employed Timberland and Vans products.
Now, how much do you wanna bet someone’s gonna arrive at the Met Gala in that three-piece eyeball suit with the matching sneakers? Because come on, that thing is practically begging for a red carpet.
