The last James Bond movie was kind of a buzzkill, wasn’t it? But judging by this newly released extended trailer for Skyfall, the Bond producers have decided to double down on the nitty gritty to deliver an epic conspiracy-level adventure for 007 and his familiar band of British bureaucrats. There’s Daniel Craig, looking grim and taut as he does shots in a bar; Judi Dench, regal as ever; Ben Whishaw as the newest iteration of Q, getting Bond set up with some gadgets in a way that doesn’t seem impossibly cheesy. There’s also Javier Bardem as a dastardly supervillain with the most platinum hair this side of Heidi Montag, and a plot that seems more serious than Bond’s typical tours through spy world goofiness—no sky lasers, for one, or an evil newspaper editor. As they show in the beginning of the trailer, you can’t keep a good man down for very long, and Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes, looks poised to rocket Bond back up to the upper tier of action hero supremacy. And why not? It’s out on November 9.
