It’s kind of hard to hate a swimming pool, right? Think again. Police in southern Brazil’s Santa Catarina region were investigating a kidnapping case earlier this week when one of their helicopters passed over a giant swastika at the bottom of a swimming pool in a private home.
Local authorities say no charges would be filed, since the swastika is on private land and they say that the homeowner, who was not identified, is not promoting Nazism.
Police say the pool has had the swastika for 13 years.
Following their defeat in World War Two, many prominent Nazi war criminals fled to Latin America, including “The Angel of Death” Josef Mengele. He died in a Brazilian swimming pool in 1979 after suffering a stroke.
