Cindy Sherman’s recent decision to go public on Instagram kinda made my summer, though I was left questioning why that didn’t happen sooner being that she’s the O.G. of weird selfie art. And this Saturday, her works––maybe including some of those Instagram selfies––will be featured alongside the photographs of fourteen other artists at Rubber Factory’s new group exhibition, “Women in Colour.” The show, curated by Ellen Carey, will feature all women artists who’ve pioneered color photography, exploring the contradictory absence of women from the art we actually learn about. The range of the exhibition will totally vary, but all the artists are insanely talented, so you know it’ll be good. And you obviously can’t miss your chance to get a selfie with a Cindy Sherman selfie––how meta.
‘Women in Colour’ opens Saturday, August 19th at Rubber Factory.
