Last Saturday at Los Angeles’ Sycamore Grove Park, a sea of Moonies gathered together for the city’s second annual International Sailor Moon Day. Dressed in their best cosplay looks inspired by the Japanese manga series, super fans enjoyed an outdoor picnic in Mount Washington, where experimental synth-pop band Plasmic and American J-pop singer Stephanie Yanez performed. Cheers to the unsung ’90s queer icon, whose shapeshifting magic is forever embedded in our brains; “In the name of the moon, I will punish you!”
