A dirty look is a thing of beauty that can take years to perfect. It can convey full monologues of hate in a single spasm. It can make people cry. It can make people wish they were never born. It is the human body’s most powerful weapon.
Until yesterday, the dirtiest look in the history of the human face was produced by none other than Sarah Jessica Parker. She was throwing shade at Tom Hanks. She claims she was looking at her phone, but I prefer to believe the former. The face was masterful.
But as of last night, there is a new contender for history’s dirtiest look, and it comes from a man who knows a thing or two about winning: Michael Phelps. While “getting in the zone” for a race last night, the Olympic Swimmer threw his rival, South African swimmer Chad la Clos a face worthy of the record books.
The face has even earned a hashtag: #PhelpsFace. Some dank memes have surfaced but as far as I’m concerned this is the only one that matters:

And while Phelps took second in the Men’s 200 butterfly semifinal, la Clos took third, which can only be attributed to the face (and not, like, skill or practice or whatever).
Sorry SJP, Phelps is the new face in town.
