At long last, a protest we can wholeheartedly get behind. On November 10th, throngs of placid fashion advocates marched the streets of San Francisco, an unexpected celebration of the fashion collaboration to outdo all fashion collaborations; H&M and Maison Martin Margiela. Clad in uniform and armed with aesthetically pleasing protest signs, hundreds of fashion militia disseminated their message through the crowded streets of San Fran. Eight other countries held similar demonstrations; the H&M X Margiela Movement is international.
The H&M X Margiela obsession began to take hold of the fashion psyche when the Swedish retailer announced the collaboration in June. Released last month, the images of the collection (which draws inspiration from the elusive brand’s history) did not disappoint, nor did this video, depicting dancers on the streets of Paris.
Victory will be granted to the silent soldiers, along with every other fashion minded person on the globe, when the collection is launched online and in selected stores on November 15th. Until then, the movement is seeking new recruits. See more photos of the event here.
