Marc Jacobs Tweets ‘Free Lil Wayne’ from Cash Money

+

In your what-the-fuck moment of the day, Marc Jacobs has officially taken a stance against Cash Money Record’s holding Lil Wayne to his contract. This tweet is more something we’d expect from AllHipHop.com. But hey, MJ is the best, and Weezy is too. The whole Birdman-Wayne beef over Tha Carter V is sad.

Earlier this month, Weezy unloaded on Twitter calling himself a prisoner of Cash Money. Label co-founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams said no split was coming and that Tha Carter V would drop when Cash Money was ready, not at Wayne’s request. In the last few days, Wayne has threatened to sue Cash Money for his freedom. Wayne’s own label, Young Money, is a subsidiary of Cash Money, and together they form the #YMCMB umbrella that’s home to Drake and Nicki Minaj.

Honestly, this all sounds like a marketing ploy. Birdman adopted Wayne as his own son. And let’s not forget the duo released the most underrated rap album of the 2000s–Like Father, Like Son.
