In 1996, a criminally cute Brit who went by the name of Baby Spice took the platform sneaker and gave it a global, er, platform. Nearly two decades later, the playful footwear is still kicking around, gracing everything from designer lookbooks to Robyn’s feet. Besides giving you the God-given gift of height, the cartoonish take on the casual sneaker is an easy way to say, “I like fun, and you should too.” And since fun is something we here at BULLETT traffic in, we decided to guide you through the making of your very own platform sneaker in nine easy steps—pun very, very intended.
One piece of thick foam board
An X-acto knife
Extra-strength glue (note: the one in the photo ended up being kind of lame for this project. It will work, but Goop Household is by far your best bet.)
Spray paint in the color of your choice
Thick Masking Tape
A fresh pair of sneaks
