Look, it would probably be pretty easy to find “Sunny Boobs”, the twee, summery love letter to one another from the members of Love, Jerks annoying, but damn if it’s not hitting me right in the cute bullseye. Maybe it’s the nice weather, or simply the video and the song’s all too rare reminder that sometimes love is actually fun! The group, headed up by newly engaged couple Rebecca Bortman of Happy Fangs and Bryan Garza of Scissors for Lefty are at least self-aware enough to poke fun at themselves in their band name.
“We love living in San Francisco, we love to escape San Francisco too,” Bortman said of the video. “So every time we did, we brought a camera and tried to capture the magic of where we were. Rather than fighting the sunny California life, we started to embrace it with a camera in tow. We had a blast making the video. We hope that it brings a little summer to your day too.”
Fine. Fine I’ll enjoy it. I don’t want to, but I will.
“There’s so much beautiful countryside in the United States. Living in a city, we sometimes forget that. So we decided to go on an adventure to remember,” he went on. “Day to day, our lives are complicated. Our relationship however, has always been easy breezy. We wanted to make a video that felt like a slice of summer,” Garza added.
“Sunny Boobs” a loosely psychedelic folk number, was the first song the duo write together, and they’ll be playing it at their rock opera wedding this September.
