I don’t technically understand what a lowercase lookbook is, never mind a LOOKBOOK.nu, on account of being old and poor, but I do have a finely-tuned nose for horseshit in web content form, on account of being old and poor, and hooo boy, this new video Lookbook: The Series from the street style site (?) is a doozy. (h/t Refinery29).
I think my favorite part, and I’m probably only committing to this because I’m only :43 seconds into the video at this point, is the entire first :43 seconds, from the gleeful young fashion blogger with her laptop open on the train scrolling through fashion images, looking at books, I guess you call it?, to the super-creepy serial killer dude that approaches two women on the street to take their photo/wear their skin. “Do I know you?” they ask, while the soundtrack to a Jr. High health class video about the dangers of drug dealers and pedophiles plays in the background. “I’m a street photographer,” he answers, sharing his business card. “STREET PHOTOGRAPHER NOT A RAPE GUY DON’T WORRY” it reads. Probably. “This will just take a second,” he says.
What follows next is some Lifetime-level scripting and acting, and some truly poor decision making skills from our heroine, who, for some reason, after getting a text message from her brother saying “travel safe”, decides to go back and take that weird dude up on his offer to take her picture in the street/empty out her suitcase. ONLY IN NEW YORK.
And then I died so I’m not sure how it ends. I think the photographer dude’s girlfriend is going to turn out to be a materialistic bitch? Someone watch it for me and send a text message to heaven where I live now so I can hear the rest of the story.
