Speaking at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser on Tuesday night in Washington, First Lady Michelle Obama was repeatedly interrupted by a heckler calling for an executive order on gay rights.
‘”One of the things I don’t do well is this,” Obama said to applause, the pool reporter for the event writes. She approached the heckler, and said “listen to me or you can take the mic, but I’m leaving. You all decide. You have one choice.”
Normally we’d applaud taking the opportunity to speak truth to power, but we’re not sure this seemed like a worthwhile place to cause a ruckus over gay rights, especially since the event was held in the home of a Democratic lesbian couple, and featured a speaker who herself is a support of gay marriage rights, but, you know, you take the attention when you can get it, right?
