Cat Power’s upcoming 9th album Sun is definitely one of the most anticipated remaining releases of 2012, and with less than a month left to go until the album’s release, we have a version of the record’s opening cut “Cherokee” courtesy of a young producer, Nicolas Jaar. Jaar sets his R&B-tinged inclinations aside for an ambient remix that picks up the poppy wistfulness of the original “Cherokee” and flies it way out over the water to a place that’s way more chill than any place Cat Power has visited before. It’s seriously approaching Christopher Cross levels of chill. It’s an affair more than a little reminiscent of the end of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon when Zhang Ziyi soars into the clouds.
Who knew that, in order to find peace, all one needs is for one’s long-term boyfriend to marry Agyness Deyn immediately after breaking up with them?
