In addition to being a very bad man who apparently does not know how to properly execute a handshake with another human, Donald Trump also bears many similarities to the lead singer of a semi-successful early aughts emo outfit. I know, I know, it’s not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Trump, but a read over those angst-ridden, caps-locked tweets should be enough to convince you. I mean, the hair isn’t even that far off. Dye that situation black and you’ve basically got a very tan Pete Wentz. Or something equally terrifying.
Anyway, the brilliant people behind Super Deluxe (of Joanne the Scammer fame) made this realization and turned several of Trump’s Trumpiest tweets into a ’00s-style emo song. Fake news, Meryl Streep, protesters, voter fraud, Saturday Night Live, and calling his own shots largely based on an accumulation of data — it’s all there and set to the soundtrack of your angstiest high school days. Sad!

To be honest, despite its cleverness, the video is a little bit difficult to get through. Like, how did I used to actually listen to this whine-screaming and call it music? Was everyone in the year 2003 really this depressed? But then, in terms of awfulness, it’s very much in keeping with its original source material, which is always good.
Here’s to hoping someone tips Trump off to the existence of this video sooner than later, because I have a feeling his response is going to be both hilarious and exclamatory, which means all the more fodder for a quick sophomore release.
