Lil Kim Remixes Rihanna’s ‘Work’ on New Mixtape, ‘Lil Kim Season’

+

Lil Kim, the Notorious B.I.G. export that gave us masterpieces like 1996’s Hard Core and 2003’s La Bella Mafia, is back with a newly dropped mixtape, Lil Kim Season. For too long, the Queen Bee’s untouchable legacy has been clouded by her snoozy Nicki Minaj feud, so it’s about time the iconic emcee returned with some fresh tracks. Hopefully this premiere marks a new chapter in her lagging career—hopefully.

The project opens with “I’m Dat Bitch,” Kim’s take on Omarion’s 2015 hit, “I’m Up,” which she released a few months ago to begin stoking online buzz. Our prized “How Many Licks?” provocateur also welcomes a number of features, including New York rapper Maino on “Did It For Brooklyn” and Kevin Gates on “Mine,” following the release of his debut studio album Islah.

Perhaps the most exciting moment on LKS is her strong stab at Rihanna’s Anti single, “Work,” where she confidently spits lines like, “Fuckin’ with this pussy, I could put you on the map,” and, “Let ’em purr on my kitty and buy mommy some furs.” All very relatable lyrics. Prepare yourself for Lil Kim Season and download the 10-track effort, here.
