Lena Dunham, the multi-hyphenate voice of our generation, has added another career to her list of world-saving accomplishments: rapper. Today, MC Pantsuit, as she now calls herself, released her first rap video in support of Hillary Clinton, featuring Cynthia Erivo and Charlamagne The God. As if we didn’t already know Dunham was #WithHer, the writer/actress used the video to tell us one more time, stripping down to a “sensual pantsuit” as further proof.
I’m not the smartest person in the world, but there’s three things I know for sure. First, I’m so sick of this election. Next, Lena Dunham will be voting for HRC, and third, if you choose a presidential candidate just because a celebrity told you to, you’re even worse than that pantsuit.
Dunham apparently agrees, which is why she made the video in the first place.
“There are so many PSAs at this point, so it’s fun to take a step back and go, ‘How many of these are working?'” she told Vulture. “Some of these PSAs are well meaning and they come from a place of deeply not wanting Donald Trump to be president, but they don’t quite work. […] I liked the idea of a well-meaning, ridiculous white girl who thinks she’s helping the election by exposing her body and writing thoughtless rap music.”
At least we agree on some things.
