Jesus, it’s got to be a giant pain in the ass dating Lana Del Rey, don’t you think? Everything is a travesty. “Remember I will love you always” she says at the beginning of the new video for “Sumertime Sadness.” Always? Cool story, but how about we just watch a movie and eat dinner on the couch tonight for once, babe? Can we skip the epic tragedy of our doomed love routine for a couple hours?
It’s kind of the problem with listening to artists like LDR, or Adele, for example after the age of, say, 27. I mean, love is great—who doesn’t love love—but come on, dude. Once you’ve had your heartbroken a couple of times you realize that the world isn’t going to stop spinning because the person in the world whose farts you’re most familiar with isn’t coming over tonight to sit next to you on the computer. Anyway, this is a nice song and Jamie King looks pretty when she cries, so I guess I’ll watch this a hundred times in a row now just in case there’s an angle here I’m missing.
