Last week, Lady Gaga got her claws on a few of Alexander McQueen’s most prized designs, shelling out an impressive £190,000 for three pairs of Armadillo Heels from his final “Plato’s Atlantis” collection. “These shoes are the only tangible piece I have left of our work together,” Gaga said to V Magazine, in reference to her “Bad Romance” video. “He wanted me to have them. They made their way back to me. I am here today not just because of my talent, but because he believed in me.”
While Gaga has found the perfect place to display a pair in her NYC penthouse, she hasn’t shied from wearing them on the streets or on stage (Fashion archivists bawl across the globe). Just last night, the singer joined U2 at Madison Square Garden as part of the band’s eight-night residency, wearing nothing but a cascading blonde hairpiece, underwear and those otherworldly McQueen heels. An unlikely duet, Bono and Gaga came together to sing “Ordinary Love,” from the 2013 Nelson Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. Watch, below.
