“‘Give Me your Bones’ was written around the idea of giving someone your all,” Nick Camacho of the Los Angeles band New Manners says. “At the time, too many of my friends were going through relationships where they weren’t getting what they were putting in.”
The title track from the band’s second LP bristles with a sense of desire for something fuller, more whole, in love.
“There was something in the water, I just couldn’t get it out,” he sings.
“This line was about my own previous problems with an ex. I tried so hard to make it work but it ended up being hazardous. It ended up being the title track because I felt the themes in this song summed up exactly what the entire EP was trying to say.”
It’s something many of us have said in our own lives many times before.
Give Me your Bones is out November 6 on The Native Sound.
