What better way to reaffirm your cool-table exclusivity than hiring the one movie star who couldn’t give less of a fuck about her global fame than Kristen Stewart? Chanel was obviously thinking the same exact thing (hire me guys!) when they named Kristen Stewart as the face of their Paris-Dallas 2013 Métiers d’Art Collection, which hits boutiques this May. Kristen Stewart Chanel!
Dallas isn’t the first city you’d associate with the paragon of French luxury design, but according to the history books, the same city that hosted the assassination of John F. Kennedy once welcomed Coco Chanel when no one else would. Dallas is home base to Neiman Marcus, who helped Chanel rebuild her brand in the ’50s, after the war made everyone realize for a second that fashion is an incredible waste of time.
To celebrate the collection, Chanel overseer Karl Lagerfeld held a huge, Western-themed fashion show at Fair Park, Dallas’ Art Deco exhibition last night, that according to one outlet, was attended by “1,000 celebrities, supermodels, more.” One of those celebrities was Stewart, who sat shotgun next to Dakota Fanning in a classic convertible to watch a screening of The Return, a film written and directed by Lagerfeld about Coco Chanel’s comeback. The Twilight star started off her new gig on the right foot by looking Michelle Obama-angry while posing for cameras during last night’s event. Perfect choice.
