For some reason people are rediscovering Robyn’s gloriously, deliriously lovable heartbreak anthem “Dancing On My Own” a lot more lately, three years after its release. LA synth-pop dup Carousel and VZLKS recently released their own versions). Now comes Kings Of Leon, who just recorded a cover of the song today for BBC1. (via NME).
It’s a slow, drafty, growly take on the ebullience-in-pain number, and despite how predisposed I was to dislike it going in, it’s pretty damn effective. Bonus points for not doing the stupid gender reversal lyric thing that so many bro-bands do when covering a woman’s song.
