Nearly 2 years after the initial motion to sue Dr. Luke for sexual and emotional abuse, Kesha has dropped the pending lawsuit against the producer in the state of California. The singer, however, will continue her legal battle in New York, where she accused Luke of sexual assault, battery, harassment and emotional distress.
The dismissal comes after the singer announced her summer tour and ongoing struggle to release new music. According to Kesha’s attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, the decision to drop the case was made so Kesha can focus her efforts on her legal battle in New York. “We have conveyed to Sony and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible,” Petrocelli said in a statement released this week.
My fight continues. I need to get my music out. I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York. Thank you for all your support.

In response, Dr. Luke’s attorney Christine Lepera shared a statement accusing the singer of false claims: “If Kesha is voluntarily dismissing her claims in the California case, it is because she has no chance of winning them. Kesha never should have brought her false and meritless claims against Dr. Luke in any court.”
Kesha still plans to have her Fuck The World tour later this month, which you can learn more about, here.
