Kendrick Lamar’s Mom Reviews ‘DAMN.’ with a Bunch of Emojis

+

Since releasing his long-awaited fourth studio album, DAMN., on April 14, Kendrick Lamar’s been on the the minds of everyone with a WiFi connection. The record just hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart, but more importantly, Kendrick’s mom’s review is in—and she approves (? percent).

This past weekend, Paula Oliver—text message goddess, and Mother of Kendrick—weighed in on her son’s album with the best possible response: a shitload of emojis. And like any good millennial son, Kendrick took to social media to post a screenshot of it.

My mom also loves overdoing the emojis, but this right here is some internet-tween level shit. In her message, she drops some Kendrick Lamar motherly wisdom, critiquing the album cover with the insightful opinion that lil’ Ken Ken has always been an over-thinker—duh. She also couldn’t help but embarrass her son by calling out some choice “ELEMENT” lyrics. Classic mom move.

Along with the text, Kendrick also revealed the dates for his upcoming tour. But I’m hoping the next thing he posts is an announcement that his mother will be joining him on stage. If not, can she at least start texting me?
