Was That Kendall Jenner/Gigi Hadid Hair Swap Enough To Make Balmain Wigs A Thing?

I can say from experience that dying one’s hair is a bitch. Unless you’re willing to spend bank, the color never comes out quite right, going from dark to light requires suffering through an itchy burning nightmare that no one seems to talk about and then there are the roots. Oh the roots. If only wigs were cool, then we could indulge all our hair color fantasies for a night or two without all the hassle.

Enter Balmain, who aims to make wigs as hot as they were in the 1960s, when a number of choice fashion houses (Dior, Pierre Cardin, YSL) boasted their own wig lines.

According to an exhaustive piece by Business of Fashion, Balmain was eager to resurrect the hairpiece trend back in 2011 with the launch of Balmain Hair, which never really took off (I didn’t even know it existed. Did you? Apparently the products are quite popular in Europe but not so much here in the US of A). But thanks to a very well conceived hair swap for the brand’s most recent runway show (you know the one, it’s right up there in the headline) suddenly the high-end wigs are on everyone’s radar.

But is the star power of aesthetically gifted besties Kendall and Gigi enough to make wigging out a thing? And more importantly, how do you think a hook up would go if it had to be paused for wig removal? Only time will tell, my friends.
