Karl Lagerfeld Sees ‘Nothing’ in New York

+

In town for the last night’s presentation of the Chanel Métiers d’Art presentation, Karl Lagerfeld had some apathetic words about our fair city.

After describing himself to The Cut as a “fashion vampire” (one who draws a few inspirations from each city he interacts with), Karl was asked what he’ll take from his trip to New York.

“Nothing. I see nothing, I do nothing, I do everything from my room in the Mercer, working at my desk on things with Choupette keeping me company,” the designer says. Choupette is, of course, Karl’s famous kitty.

But before we go getting all defensive, it should be noted that Karl prefers to explores cities via the depths of his imagination rather than by actually setting foot outside his hotel room. “I imagine the world from my window. I’m happy wherever I am. I’m very happy to be in the Mercer right now because I bring myself with me wherever I go,” he says. Whatever you say, Karl.
